Hi,

Going back a bit i was googleing metal watchstrap compass and found a pic of a ally, but i'm bugered if i can find the pic agian.

So when my plastic one broke (the little strap on the back) it got me thinking, something more than plastic.
This is what i came up with

All i got to do is solder it together and clean it up.

Cheers Topknot.

neat idea! - I'm looking forward to seeing the final product. What did the brass ring come from - that's a cracking fit and looks like it was made or the compass

What kind of watch will you be fitting this compass too?

I only ask as it is hard to find a watch with no battery, or no ferrous metal parts at all.
Obviously a watch with any of the above, will not only damage the compass long term, but will make its reading wrong too.

I do actually use a watch strap compass sometimes, but only on a separate strap on the other wrist.

Just got round to finishing it. The brass ring is a female bush for conduit
The watch in the pic is the one that i wear to work.

The compass was put inside the brass ring and then put on top of the copper and solder a little bit at a time to stop the heat .
