We used to have a bolt-hole in Bishops Castle (Salop) when we lived up that way where we used to escape to on a Friday and return suitably chilled and ethereal on a Sunday - and enjoyed the vittles and casked of the Three Tuns....
Now we are back home in Oxon we are looking for a similar bolt-hole in the south about an hour away (by large slow land rover) and where there are minimal facilities (for the lady).
Any suggestions? I'd like river, woods all the usual stuff and if there are "civilised" camping facilities all the better for Mrs Acorn.
