Blade-Tech Sharpener

Has anyone used one of these sharpeners. Took my son fishing this afternoon and the fishery has a clothing shop that sells alsorts of gear. The owner was sharpening a knife on one and he let me have a go with a Lambsfoot folder I have. I thought it was sharp to start with but I only pulled blade though about 3 times and the difference was amazing. Only cost £8.99. Definatly one for my Xmas Christmas stocking.

Good little bit of kit Ive had one for a year or so. I have resurrected my SAKs with it and they are ideal for taking nicks out of an edge. I also find they are good to finish an edge after you have done a knife on a stone and got the edge a bit too thin almost like a secondary bevel but not quite if you know what I mean. A great bit of kit to have on you when out and about.

Totaly agree with bloodline
had one for 18 months ive only got a mora but a couple of runs through and then on a leather strop and its sharp enough to shave you forearm
and they come in differant colours

They're not something I'd use on a decent knife - they work by tearing steel off at a far larger rate than even a coarse stone, resulting in rapid wear of the blade & invariably a burred edge. They're the sort of thing I use on shears & the like.

I would beg to differ. I don't have a lot of experience with these sharpeners. However when it was demonstrated to me a machete was use and that created a grating noise as the blade was dragged through the sharpener. However when I tried it with me lambsfoot folder, which incidentally I sharpened only a few weeks ago on a DC4, there was no noise at all. In fact I thought it wasn't doing any sharpening at all. However I pulled it through about 3 times and the difference it made to my blade was amazing.
I would personally reccomend them to augment a stone/s.
