Hi folks.

Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of and/or experience with the Tundra 3 model from Biso Telt?

I think the Tundra 4 is too big for just me, but can't seem to find any pictures of the smaller model, and would love to get a feel it's size and use of use before I buy. Also, wonder if it can take a fire box, or would it's smaller size mean it can't?

Many thanks folks,

KP

Hey KP,
I've been thinking along the same line since the rain leaked into our tent, saturday night at the summer Bushmoot. Here's their website, though I think the English version is still under construction http://www.beaver.no/eng/default.asp
By all accounts, they are a good company to deal with and I think I'll be putting an order their way soon myself.

Just to make you aware, a couple of us have experiences issues with the Tundra's leaking. Will post when we have more info on the maunfacturers response.

My Tundra 4 got a serious soaking the other weekend and didn't have a problem that I know about. Where was the leak Rich, want to keep an eye out for it.

 Didn't leave the door open did ya? ;)

Looks like they spray proofed the tent after manufacture withh the smoke cap fitted - where the bundled guy lines lay you can see the proofing didn't get to the material. When it's wet you can clearly see the rope marks as they saturate and then leak through.

No I didn't leave the door or the cap off - I only look stupid, in reality I'm actually not that bad... ;)

Thanks for all the responses folks.

Joe- a tent that sleeps 4-6 adults is, I think, too big for just little old me, considering I have a small-ish flat and am concerned about getting it dried properly after use.

I have been on the Bison Telt website and pointbarwilderness, but no-where can I find pictures of the Tundra 3 so I can get an idea of the size!!

I suppose, just getting the 4 would mean that should I end up with family, it would mean I dont have to upgrade. Does the Tundra 4 pack up quite small and is it easy to set up with just one??

Does any one else believe that the Tundra 4 is overkill for one (albeit large) bloke, or is it just me??

Cheers,

KP:D

I use the tundra 4 for one - not overkill - luxury!!!:D you could probably sleep 3 quite comfortably with kit etc but more gets less comfortable and if you ever get the stove you need clearance from that. Its dead easy for one to put up on their own as well.

I don't think the stove goes in the 3?

the 3 also has a square foot print rather than being a proper tipi.

If you don't want the stove, and weight etc is a problem then get the Tinde 4. much lighter.

Don't think the 4 is overkill for one person unless you are backpacking with it. LOL

A, bugger it, the Tundra 4 it is!

I Ideally want a stove (or at least a V. small fire box or similar) as I intend to use it on the west coast of Scotland in winter. I wondered about the shape and as the 3 is square, that makes the decision quite easy really!

Cheers folks for you comments and thoughts.

I had a good look around Phil's (TMKTC) at the moot and even if every seam leaked, I doubt it leaked as much as our cheapie dome did  We didn't get soaked but we had to take remedial action, if you know what I mean.
It would seem that on first itching, a good dose of fabsil would cure the leaks (lower edge of the guy-line gusset) and any masking effect of the guy ropes from post production proofing.

It really just boils down to when SWMBO says OK, then the order will go in.

KP,

I would definately say that a 4 is not overkill for one person... I would also say that if you are pushed for drying space, maybe consider the more light weight nylon one as it will never get mildew, smell bad or really need much care at all... cotton / poly cotton / "technical" cotton will still need proper drying before storage.

You may end up with a few pin holes if you have a small open fire with one of the more lively woods like sweet chestnut but with a stove you won't have that worry.

Just something to think about I guess.

I'm not sure about the pack size but as an example, my tentipi vagge 7 man can fit in to the side pocket of a bergen with the poles in the main section or strapped to the outside so in theory, you can go nuts :D

I certainly don't regret buying it and seethe current leaking as a minor issue - nothing that my garden sprayer and some nikwax gear proof wouldn't cure!

I highly recommend them and for the price I don't think they can be beat.

Well, I just ordered the Tundra 4 from some very nice folks in the UK. should be here in 48hours and all going well, will be able to use it from next Wed right through the weekend (on night shift and stuff till then!).

Once again, cheers for all the advice folks. :You_Rock_

I think I've just phoned the same people myself - lets hope we don't swamp them with an avalanche of orders now. Eagerly awaiting a call back to finalise the deal for a Tundra 8 with all the trimmings.

Wow doesn't buying big stuff get exciting real quick :naughty: :approve: :beerchug:

KP, the devil on one shoulder is mightily appeased, but the bank manager on the other shoulder is scowling dissapprovingly. Thaks for the gentle push into retail therapy.

Ogri- I didnt opt for "all the trimmings" :p , well, not yet anyway. Will be ordering the stove next month probably, will look at all the options available first (Stove, fire box, fire bowls (have 2 already), folding kindling size cooker (have 1 already) etc etc etc.

Your right about it getting exciting- I feel like a kid at christmas just now...:D :D :D

Enjoy it when it comes- gonna post some pics next week when I get back.

Till then, S'later folks.
