Birch bark tinder box I made for my son.

It's glued with resin & can be used as tinder too.

I sometimes think really supple treated- (warm water alum solution 2Tsp/2quarts (4pts)) alum helps make it supple when dry and it sometimes feels like Chaamoise leather. (Window cleaners shammy cloth.)

I’m going to try that softening technique. Is it ordinary birch - betula pendula?

I’ve watched Mr Mears making a birch bark canoe. He made glue from birch sap. That might be worth a follow up if it can be stored.
