Folks I have a pair of bins made by a company called Katumer, can anyone enlighten me as to the country of origin, Google in my hands brings up a big fat zero.

I got a lot of hits in South Africa when checking out Katumer. It might be a rip off of the Asahi Opticals (now part of Pentax) Takumar Binoculars, the same way the Chinese companies call their motorbikes Hongdu and Suzuka. I could be way off the mark but, like you I found nothing else.
Yes I got them too, auction sites.
They are the old school type optic probably 70's or thereabouts.
