was given these

foot deep, 9.5 inches square, the opening is 5.5 inches diametre.

no lids sadly

I have seven....(will part with a few if anyone interested)

any idea of projects I could do with them?

They could be used to make quite an interesting 'Hobo' type stove. I used something like it a few year ago and it burned wood very well. There are quite a few designs available.

you could cut diagonally in half accross the top and you will have an instant reflector oven for bannocks breads etc. You can also use the other half to make a shelf for the oven.

try a sawdust stove - great for warming up a teepee/chute shelter.

basically you cut a hole in the base make some legs, then ram pack sawdust/wood shavings down arounds a broom handle/dowel. take the handle out anfter packing then light the base through the bottom hole. teh holes restrict the airflow so you get a good steady slow hot burn.

that size tin should work for 6-10 hours :)

you could also use it as a camp oven.

I'm really glad to read that someone else knows about sawdust stoves. They work really well but once alight you should not mess with them as they do not like being disturbed. The tighter the packing the better and longer the burn. I found a little diesel tipped down the hole onto a bit of sack will start them nicely. (30 years ago!)
