Best car roof rack?

What is the best car roof rack brand and what is the best way buying it? I like saving money, but much appreciate quality too
I am currently thinking Thule as I see them around, maybe source from Halfords though suspect fitting will be overpriced. However, I remember a guy running on an emergency lane towards me waving because his roof rack blew off and I would think fitting with a specialist is kind of insurance

Thule is always my go to brand however some cars just don’t suit decent sized loads on the roof. If it’s the style of roof bar that has to attach by clamping into the frame below then I’m less keen versus fix point. It does depend on what you’re carrying though.

Thule are market leaders but halfords own brand are copies. If you ever see paddy Hobkirk bars move on quick. They're no good!

A guy in my canoe club had paddy hobkirks on his car back in the days of guttered cars. One day carrying 4 kayaks on them he lost it all in the m6 overtaking lane, outside lane! Luckily it was early and the guys managed to get it back because the m6 was quiet there at that time.

Some car brands sell bars for their cars but they're just rebadged bars from some other manufacturer, often thule I think. Check what your car brand offers.

If you've got roof rails on the roof they sometimes have set points on the rails for bar attachments. I think my seat altea xl had kind of recessed sections that took the Thule mounting feet.

I rate Yakima whispbars over Thule. I've had both.

I've had Thule roof bars and box both great products that lasted and took some abuse.
Fitted by the supplying shop in Garstang in about 20 mins.
