Cheers was just seeing if there was a lid that would fit trying to build a compact brew kit when out for the dayDon't if there is one for your mug, but I made one for my Crusader mug from a heavy duty foil container. Did the job nicely.
Looks great what do you think of the mug ? cheers ATB Phil.I just make my own.... along with a lid to take my coffee filter...View attachment 93272View attachment 93273View attachment 93274View attachment 93275View attachment 93276
Cheers ATBHave a look at CadetDirect, they do one for the Dutch pattern which seems similar.
The mug is OK but liable to burn the lips - hence the black tape!Looks great what do you think of the mug ? cheers ATB Phil.
its more or less the same as the ww2 USA mug going to knock up a self feeding stove to go with it when i get it see how it worksThe mug is OK but liable to burn the lips - hence the black tape!
you have a link buddy i can not find him cheersI've not seen a specific lid for the Belgian mug yet in my years of surplus kit diving. Never say never though!
There is an eBay seller "woodlorien" who makes nice lids for crusader mugs & various mess kits like the Yugoslavian ones. Might be worth a shout. Items are made to order so it takes a while but the work is good.

Heavy duty boil cover for the Crusader Mug. For those of you who are unsure, the mk1 mug is on the right hand side in the pictures and is silver in colour, the mk2 on the left and is black. be sure to check the shape of your mug as well, the mk1 having a rolled edge the mk2 having a straight edge.www.ebay.co.uk
Nice one may have a go at one ATBTake your mug, put it face down on a bit of MDF, draw round the rim. Cut out the block , take a bit of Alu sheet - I use charity shop bought cheap mess tins - mark out the block on the sheet adding about 1cm all round. Cut out the blank, screw it to the block with a self tapping screw in the center of each. Hammer the edge of the sheet over the edge of the MDF. Take the sheet off the MDF. Make a pot lid handle (I use a bit of Hazel rod) and screw it to the lid with a self tapping screw through the existing screw hole. drill some strainer holes, file the edges even and smooth and you have a mug lid. Cut a suitable size hole instead of the handle and you have a filter holder....
I am no metal worker - so if I can do it ,anyone can make a lid or filter holder!![]()
Cheers Fella ATBMore info please John... as always.
If you go over to Bushcraft USA and search for user spork (I think) he makes them and has a guide.
i lost the lid of my "zebra" billy about 7years ago in a flood (and use a cheap stainless steel plate as replacement since then -- works, but not perfect...): i've a piece of thin stainless steel, so i'll have a go on making a better lid following your instructions soonTake your mug, put it face down on a bit of MDF, draw round the rim.
