Beefsteak fungus confirmation

Hello all.....99.9% certain (after checking various books) this is beefsteak fungus but just wanted a second opinion to confirm!

Not confirming but certainly looks like it, long, long time since I had any. IIRC there's not much like it to confuse it with?

Always good to check, minding the old adage, 'There's good mycologists and dead mycologists!'

Yep, always very careful and as you say there seems to be very little to confuse it with. It was also growing on oak. Anyway, fried with onion and garlic in butter and feeling fine! The wife however declined my offer to try......
