Hello All ,
I am searching for a good quality / standard basic survival course in the North of England to send my Grandson on to learn the basics of shelter building , firelighting techniques , water purification and wild food preperation etc . or all I was trained in these techniques by UKSF I am now too disabled to take my Grandson myself and teach him these skills . I would appreciate any feedback

It’s a bit further north, in fact it’s in Ayr Scotland.
I did a 3 day survival course & thoroughly enjoyed it.
That was in 2009 so not sure if it’s still going?
His name is Alan Finlay.. I think the Address was Waterside by Patna, that’s all I remember.

They run good courses in and near the Cairngorms and northern England (not sure exactly where though).
Good instructors and practical courses.
I did a 3-day multi environment course with them and a year later did a Woodland Skills Leader course - both were excellent and they are patient with you if your skills have faded over the years, as mine had!

Wild Human (formerly Woodsmoke) run very well respected courses in the Lake District, between Windermere and Coniston.

Sargey here has been on one of their advanced courses (possibly more than once), Stuart went on a course, then has been there as a specialist instructor for a number of years. I attended an WMT Expedition Skills joint courses with held with them in 2018. They know their stuff and run good courses.
