Lost in the woods
Next time I do mine I'm going to try some blackberries as well as raisins, I use Jinsens456 mix.
Mind you anything cooked over embers is great.

What consistency do you mix the dough to?

I just mix it until it's "smooth", dont want to be playing with the dough for too long otherwise you will knock out all the air bubbles created by the raising agents and it will end up like a paving slab

H, just a quick question for you experienced bannock bakers, does it taste any different cook in a frying pan over a fire compared to cooking it in a fry pan on a normal ring at home? or do you think you would benefit from the flavour more if I was to make some sort of board to put near as possible to the open fire?

Also any fool proof easy recipes/combinations of extras to put in the bannock would be much appreciated!!

Iv done a search on youtube for different recipes but no one seems to use milk powder, however it comes up quite regularly on here.

Thanks ever so much
Steve

Yes.. less woodysmokey.

Pretty much the recipe is fool proof, combinations are just about what tastes you want.

I use uncle Ray,s recipe,and its really rather good,more like a cake,than a bread.

2 Cups of plain flour
1 Cup of milk powder
4 Tablespoons of dried egg powder
4 Tablespoons of brown sugar
