The government is to set out plans later for a badger cull in England, which it believes is necessary to curb tuberculosis in cattle.

The plan is likely to involve licensing farmers to shoot badgers on their land, and tens of thousands may be targeted.

Apparently the new lib-con gov't don't have any reservations over whether or not the scientific evidence for TB passed from badgers stacks up...

guess we'll see what happens shortly.

I guess we'll soon have more evidence to consider in that case. As I understand it the results of the trials were ambiguous, being influenced by the boundaries of the trial area. A larger trial is the next logical step.
