Hello peeps.

I'm back after a brief interlude in hospital for a total hip replacement, was in for six days and came home today, very sore, very tired, a great wound and some amazing bruising, but all worth it as I now have one working hip that doesn't crunch and crack as I walk.

One more operation this year to do the other hip, which will be nice, as my left leg is 1 inch longer now so I have a limp, I'm good at walking round hills in one direction though. The hospital has given me some walking aids to help level things up though and they work brilliantly.

Life was such in hospital that I didn't have time to go online much due to the pace of the recovery process - relentless and very painful at times, but worth it.

Hopefully won't be long until I can get some bushy stuff done again.

Welcome home.
Friends who have been through what you have say that the hurt is sooooooo worth it.
A fast recovery to you.

It’s just occurred to me that you’ve had one hip, once you get the other hip we can have a ‘hooray!’
if you cant wait until the end of next year we have a knees up, as having my knees done, but it could get the elbows (2027) or the cold shoulders (2028)

Pleased to read this, and hear that things are moving along. It's an endeavour but the results can be brilliant, truly life altering.
I hope things heal well, and quickly too :)

Yes, me too.

My hip is paining me and so have an appointment with the Physio; a small wait but better than faffing with the GP.

Suspect RA.

My Fathers Late wife had her hips done and it made such a difference in life.

Its sad to hear (as I recently did) of folks who refuse or put it off...it is a life changing operation.

exactly that, its four weeks or so of discomfort after the op and then back to a normal life, at present my hip doesn't hurt at all, its all the muscles that have been bruised and are having to adjust to the new reality that bite a bit, but being home will make a difference too as you have to exercise, unlike hospital, if i want a cup of tea, i have to go get it myself, mind you was nice to have a proper wash this morning and get the hospital grime off.

Hope you get your hip sorted soon as.

its nice to be on the right path at long last, the wound area and hip are not sore tbh, itchy as heck as it all slowly heals and of course its all under a very large dressing so i cant scratch, not that you should anyway, it will pass. Managed to stand up straight from my bed this morning so was very happy with that, its about the lowest thing i have to stand up from, it was playing on my mind a little, but ive done it now and every day from here on in it gets easier. At least being at home i get a decent cup of tea & coffee, the hospital stuff was fairly grim.

think you are right, its definitely a conveyor belt system, in, op and out as soon as you meet the minimum criteria to go home, which is good is some respects as you heal better at home, mind you the mixed fruit crumble and custard was very good.
