axe help needed

Hi everyone need some help got an old axe ive been fixing for my daugter to use ive ground it sharpened it and put on a new handle but can seem to find any of the little metal wedges you get to put in the top anybody know where you can get them ?

Hi Gordon,

What sort do you want (ring or straight) and what size (they come in 1 to 5, 1 being the smallest.

Let me know and I'll see if I have one (fairly safe bet)

im moving house and the said axe has been packed away somewhere i dont know what size i need
If i took the measurement of the eye would you be able to tell me what size i need ?

Its not that precise Gordon - are you looking for the flat ones (like Gransfors use) or the round ones (like wetterlings use)? Is it a little axe (SFA or smaller)?

If you can answer that I'll figure it out for you

think its a flat one i need its slightly smaller that the sfa

No problem. Thats the smallest one (assuming you are using a wooden wedge as well).

I have put in a wooden wedge just wanted a metal one to tighten it up and make it more secure

The wedge came today and works a treat thanks again Red and thanks for the spare
