Axe Heads

I'm thinking about getting a Gransfors Bruks small forest axe but i would like it to have a bit of "me" in it if you know what i mean. thats why i'm looking for an axe head and put my own handle on it as my dad is a carpenter and it would be nice to do an axe to match my Knife's.
Does anyone know where i can either get one or get one made and how much would it cost?
would it be cheaper to buy a Gransfors Bruks

depends on what you want I guess. The cheapest option for just the head would be to find an old one at a car boot or 2nd hand tool seller. A new one by somebody like myself or Cegga would be the same or more than (most likely) a fully finished GB.

You could always customise the axe instead. So grind/polish the head a little, carve or otherwise decorate the handle, remake the sheath, etc.

How much more would one of your or cegga's axe cost than a GB SFA do you know Dave?

Also Deanno I think you could give GB a ring and ask them directly if there's anybody there who speaks english!

If you must have a new handle then you could buy a SFA & cut the handle off, but you would probably not end up with a better handle than the one it came with. As Mr Budd has said, just customise a bought one or buy an old head to bring back to life. I bought one for £4 that I am working on & while it wont be a SFA it will be unique.

if you get a normal Axe head a couple of cuts with an angle grinder and you can make it into a Hudsons bay pattern then put a handle on it

Axe heads are cheap at a car Booty be carful tho you may end up with a shed FUll of old Axe heads

If you want I can forge one for you and just heawy grind it and heat treat it then you can grind it ready and make the handle on it
