The short question:
Is anyone aware of or could recommend a week (approx) bushcraft expedition overseas during august- with two places left on it?

If not could anyone point me in the right direction for sorting our own trip.

The background:
Me and the lovely soon to be Mrs Merlyn were going to get married this year. I am desperately busy with work and neither of us have the motivation/ impetus to organise it so we have put it off, but decided to have a cracking holiday this summer instead.

Although my fiance doesn't have a massive interest in bushcraft she has said she would be happy to do a week course/expedition with me and then we could do a week travelling in the same country.

I've been interested in bushcraft for quite a few years and obviously learnt a lot from this site and various books. I practice the skills a fair bit and went on the Woodland Ways advanced couse which solidified my fundamental skills. I'd be interested in more specialist things like flint knapping/tracking/crafts etc. over a more general course.

We're both outdoor activity instructors so are happy to rough it. My partner lived in the jungle in Belize for a year and has an archeology degree so there's very little bushcraft wise she can't keep up with.

I'd be happy with Norway/ Sweden- i spent 3 weeks there motorbiking and loved it, but would be interested in other places too.
Canoeing/trekking would also be nice- not just one fixed base camp.

Cheers for any help
Merls

hi moab,

Looks fantastic!! I've started thinking just a trip would be better. Also i have been meaning to sort an overseas canoe trip for quite some time. Sounds like the infrastructure for transport reduces hassle, scenenry looks bloody amazing!!

thanks for reply

how about return ticket to bangkok then up to chaing mai(very easy as on backpacker route) and book on to a jungle expedition? we had 2 days on elephants and 4 days trekking then a final day bamboo rafting back to where we started earlier in the week, accommodation is with hilltribes staying in thier huts.
It was a while ago when we went but the week trip was only about £60 then we went down south of thailand and stayed on an island that had very few people sleeping in bamboo huts, exploring the island and snorkleing then going down to malaysia and because we really enjoyed the trekking up north we done another 5 day jungle trek.
just ideas, flight £450 food and accommodation oober cheap £2 a night and 50p a meal is easily found. trekking first week and beach second week for your good lady.
