I have a had batch of rowan berries submerged in a litre of vodka for best part of a month now. Schnapps for Christmas :)

It's Sorbus aucuparia which isn't a ash but a member of the rose family and is nicknamed the mountain ash the tree with the very orange berries is the European rowan
Tody is right the berries are soo tart in taste that the jelly is not pleasant unless substituted with large amounts of apple although it does make good sweet and sour sauce
