  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
When i removed the ourer and inner bark i do admit i did take some sap wood with it.its a learning curve to take to the next one

If you aint breaking em you aint making em ;) Also if you are not breaking them every now and then you are over-building :)

The back on second string woods has to be pretty much perfect. Yew, osage, elm in some cases you ca get away with murder. If you are un-sure then back the bow with something, linnen, silk. Some say sinew but that's a whole lot of work for a bow you are not quite sure about.

Crack on! excuse the pun.

Oh dear, reminds me of my first ever Bow made from Ash! If your ever down my way I still have some Ash staves that need to be turned into bows and I need rid of! Should be seasoned by now, I cut 'em in '04!
