Hi Folks,
just bought an Artikis Sniper Smock in Dancam, so i thought i'd pop a quick post up on my first impressions.
well, out of the bag, i'm pretty impressed. i bought this to replace a danish army smock that i'd picked up but was way too big. i'm about a 40" chest and 5'10" so i went for a medium. the fir is perfect, with plenty of room for winter woolies and thermals.
It is made from a ripstop cotton/poly mix with a drop liner made from some sort of waterproof liner (with the current forecast, i should be able to report on it's effectiveness pretty soon, lol). It has pit zips, a full length front zip with storm flap, knitted cuffs and a well fitted hood.
The main features that amazed me, were the number of pockets. i could live for months out of these (i guess it's what it's designed for). 2 bellows base pockets, 2 bellows chest pockets, 2 zip chest pockets behind the bellows, 1 zip internal access pocket. Both arms have a lower pocket and upper arm pocket. Also there are 2 internal zip pockets and lower back pouches. finally, there is a lower back pocket on the back. Phew, i reckon i could do without my day sack with this.
Additional features include reinforced shoulder and elbow patches with removable foam padding.

I have to say, first impressions are very good. At £85 i'm hoping this is a good buy, but only time and wear will tell.
As an aside, i'm not normally into camo gear, but i'm very impressed with the dane-cam. i use it alot for wildlife watching and it seems to be very effective.

Arktis clothing is fantastic stuff. I bought their original SAS type smock and a couple of pairs of their combat trousers back in 1991 or 92 ish and gave them some pretty hard use for a good 15 years till I packed in with the military and then used them for bushcrafty stuff/wildlife watching etc. and they really are still going strong.

I recently bought myself a Swiss army tutti frutti smock for £10. It is probably totally un PC on account of the ridiculous camouflage and the non waterproofed cotton, but what the heck it is the new black and for a tenner you can't go wrong, what you can carry in those pockets has to be seen to be believed :)

Swiss camo isn't that tutti frutti, Sir Ian looks pretty fly in "Richard lll", http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114279/.

Arktis is maybe the only company in the world that makes clothing and webbing in Greek Army's "Lizard" pattern.

Which I guess is one company more than makes Alpenflage these days (it sounds a Swiss breakfast doesn't it?)
