a different hammock question!

i have recently bought a british army lightweight stretcher/hammock(the issue jungle hammock). (£15)
same as the one lenny henry used on his survival course with lofty wiseman, used on "sas are you tough enough (jungle)", and simular to the beds on "i'm a celebrity get me out of here" programmes

i know of 4 uses:
hammock / stretcher(it has built in handles) / A-frame bed(it has sleves for poles)/ and a carrier for kit.
i know it isn't the most comfy but how do i use it properly.

unfortunately i have one pictue to go by.

can anyone enlighten me as to the proper way to use it ie:
prefered knots
weight limits
any training gidelines basically or army advice.

i used to have one but never used it so sold it and bought a hennessey(which i love and can't fault) which i intend to continue using
but due to the robust and multi use of the thing i thought i'd give it another try!

Hi Rich, as far as knots are concerned if it works it works (I used to use the same type as you use for doing your laces with the bow).

Get the spreader bars in and tension from both ends (hence me using knots which can be done and undone quickly). I used to get mine very tight and then just slacken it off a little.

Easiest method of getting into it I found was to straddle it and sit back, but I must admit that as soon as I could I got a thai hammock as they were easier to use and you hardly ever hear of someone falling out of one.

:) cheers forthat mate.

if you can think of anything else please tell me!

any ideas on how long side poles sould be, or how high/low the insect net should hang?

:(

i tried out the hammock using jusat the tapes....
2 of the four brass "D" rings snapped!(at different times)

i know i am not that fat!
though i fixed the joins with loops of genuine paracord which i have to say i now trust more than ever!

what did i do wrong?
was it a tension thing?

i seem to remember this happening to Lenny Henry when he did a survival programe with Lofty wiseman.

woe is me! :(
