I assume you mean 'muckboot' the brand as opposed to 'wellies' with with steel toe-caps.

I can only speak for the humble steel toed wellie, with the right socks and correct fit they are very comfortable, if you are not used to them then you will feel the effects of the extra weight of the steel toe-caps and the steel sole protector (and possibly a steel ankle support - depends on type).

I would guess that muckboot the brand would have the same weight penalties, some higher end (more costly) brands\models offer composite toe-caps giving the same protection for less weight, e.g. http://www.safetybootsuk.co.uk/cofr...afety-wellingtons---non-metallic-p-90601.html

I have Cofra composite toe-cap goretex safety boots provided by my employer, they are too good for 'working' in, lightweight, warm, really comfortable although the model I have has too many lace up points for my liking, excellent boots and I cannot recommend them enough.

My preference in wellies for general (not construction type activities) is the 'rigger wellie' and you can get them with safety toe-caps and insoles, mine are lined and comfy and relatively light compared to the average wellie, I have a Dunlop pair similar to these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUNLOP-PU...rg=20140407115239&rk=5&rkt=30&sd=270765180091

I think I paid £28.00 for them, and I can wear them all day without any problems.

Well you did ask :p
