Antler for Sammi knife sheath ?

Hello All ,
Getting slowly back into my DIY knife and sheath mode again . I have come across a nice knife I made about 20 tears ago with a quality Nylund scandi blade and a hidden tang Thuya burl handle with brass , buffalo and bone spacers that need a little re shaping ,I will discard the leather sheath I made back then and fancy making a leather and stag handled Sammi style sheath where the stag horn is at almost a right angle at the bottom end of the sheath . Ideally I would use reindeer antler but red deer would suffice as long as it was the right dimensions ( approx 4 3/4" in length and 2 1/2" width which includes the natural angle or branch between two sections of the horn ( hope Ive described that correctly)... anyway has anyone any idea where I can buy such a piece ?

Look at dog chew bins in pet shops, they often include antler pieces of various sizes. Some craft shops in country areas have them. Otherwise look at the usual suppliers such as Brisa (www.brisa.Fi) or similar.

You want reindeer for that! If dog chew bins have that then I’m popping down there!!

I’m having a big sort out, bit of a life audit! amongst other stuff I’ve got to reduce some of my craft supplies.
It won’t be for a day or two until I can check what I’ve got so if your not in a rush, let me know.

Aye, only red deer antler in dog chew bins. Reindeer antlers and crowns are very nice, but more difficult to get hold of in blighty.
