animal hide for lamps?

hello does anybody know where a can get animal hide from suitable for making lamps, im after the stuff which is semi transparent so the light shines through?

Dog chews from pet stores.It may need scraping a bit though..

that is the sort of stuff, but they will be a bit small, it needs to be about 1'6"x3' ish

Bladders from pigs and sheep were traditionally used. They need to be stretched over a wire frame as they dry. I have never made one so I can't offer help, but I have seen many successfully made examples at medieval reenactment events.
