Adze making

Hi guys

just a quick one, could i make an adze blade from an old file? Would it need heat treating before putting an edge on it?

ALSO, I HAVE A VERY OLD PLANE IRON THAT NEEDS RE-GRINDING. IF I WAS TO POST IT COULD SOME ONE SORT IT FOR ME? OR IF ANYONE IS CLOSE TO BARNSLEY I COULD POP ROUND

as for making an adze out of an old file as long as the file is big enough i see no reason why not, but it would need heat treating, but you'll have to wait for someone else regarding how to heat treat it, i havent quite got me head around it myself yet.
