Hi guys.
I`m posting for some advice on buying a Knife,
I need a knife that will be good for chopping branches for example clearing a track plan in a harbour area but at the same time be useful for other survival needs. I`ve looked over the net and watched a few youtube videos and quite like the Smith and Wesson search and rescue knife.

I have looked over the net but can`t seem to find a place to get a hold of one in the uk, all the websites ive looked at that had the knife im not to sure if they are legitamate.

can you guys give a recommendation on any other good quailty knifes that will be up for the job and also a reputable seller in the uk

cheers

well its all about how much $$ you want to spend.

S&W make ok knives, but I'm a knife knut, and wouldn't bother.

440 Stainless (doesn't even state A,B or C). Sheath's would be cheap rubbish.

I'd have a go at something like this for reasonable $$

I've held a few of those brands, and the Kabar Kukri is the one I'd least like to own, but I'd take any over the S&W.

I'd suggest the Becker BK7 or BK9. Comes with the nice little one for smaller work. cord wrap the handle or have someone make scales for it. Great companion gear.

Good luck either way

I don't know the law in Scotland, but I thought that combat knives were classified as offensive weapons in the UK, and the BK9 is described as a combat knife.

KaBar/Becker Combat Bowie BK9

Ka-Bar Becker BK9 Combat Bowie plain edge Fixed Blade. Features a 9 1/8" black coated plain edge blade. Full tang construction. Includes a satin finished BK13 plain edge fixed blade utility knife which is 5 1/4" overall. Heavy duty black nylon belt sheath carries both the large and small knife. You just can't advertise a knife as a combat knife in the UK. Buying them is perfectly legal.
