Use a rounded point needle rather than a pointy needle. That way the fibres are pushed to the side when sewing rather than sometimes being snapped/snagged.

Learned this the hard way when sewing snakeskins for a bunch of hammocks.

How light is the fabric? If it's very light then putting a piece of tissue paper underneath the fabric can help, you just tear it away afterwards. Experiment with some scrap fabric too, you might have to fiddle with the foot pressure to get it to feed through smoothly.

its a sari

There is a very big family occaision comming up. (I wont go into the grim details but its big enough to involve a catherderal)

And me, the unsociable tengu, has `not` been invited as I am scruffy and will lower the tone of the event.

naturaly my nose is quite severely out of joint (for a tengu a pretty bad thing)

I have resolved to turn one of my saris (car boot finds) into a dress.
