Took the girlfriend away for her birthday this weekend, no night in the wilds but we did do the red-trail at Simonside. Definitely worth going to if only for the walk and the scenario. I did however get to try out my new camping stove up at the top of the first crag which was brilliant (this one here) - but then the snow started to get heavier so we cracked on...
Heading back down towards the picnic area through the woods - definitely time to get the hammock out sometime soon!...
We stayed overnight at the Three Wheat Heads in Thropton - would definitely recommend for an overnight stay, evening meal, sunday dinner or just a pint of their local ales. This was the view from our room...
Followed by a nice little walk in the morning...
