A successful bit of winter arson

Was out on another dogwalk today and with my hands in my pockets, I kept picking up the cramp balls that I'd collected a few weeks ago. Decided to try some winter firelighting.

Struck a spark (from my rather corroded firesteel - got damp at some point) and got a good hot glow going. Put it into a bundle of dryish grass and it didn't catch so picked some bracken and tried again - got a good load of flames in no time!

No purpose to it aside from self satisfaction but it amused me!

If nothing else it keeps your hands warm. Nice to know there's stuff to burn even with snow on the ground

I even found a cigarette lighter in the middle of a field - full of gas & works fine - ironic, really
