What James said. Pewter is a soft metal and prone to the odd dent.. I have a few tankards, some brand new and shiny but my fave is a battered old grey thing that's stained with cider and wine tannin and is a faithful old friend... Let it age gracefully .

Depends on the grade and lead content?

Pewter's soft and doesn't really need annealing to work with it. Knock them out.

i would think it depends on the grade of cider! I'm surprised it hasn't just eaten straihgt through?! Or maybe it's just the stuff folk around here drink

Cider should be drunk from wooden vessels at best, stoneware second, anything else as a last resort...imvho
