I was quite surprised how good the feather sticks turned out with a flat grind blade, the Secare has pretty good bevel geometry and a nice sharp back edge, I lit the sticks after 3 scrapes on a new fire steel.

Nice! It's all about getting off your bum, getting out there and having a go, helps having a mate locally who feels the same, love it when people share their time out in the woods, as much as i love sharing mine.

Thanks.

Nick and I usually get out on the weekend but there are four of us its just awkward getting us all in one place at the same time!
We have a night out planned over Christmas to look forward to and a weeks canoeing next year , hopefully some more stuff in between.
As for the Secare I havent used it for more than fire prep so I can't comment on various grips, personally I cant see it being a problem, the large birds eye pomel is great as you can loosen and drop your grip to do some light chopping.
I really like it, handle a bit thicker would be my only request if I was to commission one.
I'm going to do a review on it soon.
