I had a very nice bimble and forage today. I found some lovely sweet chestnuts off the beaten track so I had the area to myself. Most of the gatherers here tend to concentrate on the trees on the side of the A6 near Clophill.
Then I moved deeper into the woodland where I know there are lots of fallen birch to harvest some bark. I also found a nice flint in the upended root plate and two cramp balls in amongst a cluster on a decaying ash. There were plenty of tinder hoof fungus and birch polypore there too.
I made my foraging bags out of a pair of combats that I turned into shorts as they already have the drawstrings in place for closure.
All in all I had I very nice time.
