Melonfish, I'm gutted!!... I want to see how well the new camo smock works out in the bush! If you go out again, be a dear and stick the self-timer on , run 100 yds and then stop. Wait for the Birdie and then back here to post up the phots.

That Bunker..do you know how big it is?? I love old WWII buildings.

aye will do, it was my phone so not sure about timers :D
the bunker was part of a complex, there's about 6 of them left that encircle a park in birchwood.
this site has some more local remnants:
http://www.2e-images.co.uk/places/birchwood/rof/remnants.htm
and some info here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROF_Risley

there have been old munitions found on the local moss, back in 93 we had EOD in doing sweeps for old discarded shells and whatnot ;)
fun area :D

Wow! just found this old pic:

that bunker now has tonnes of earth in front of it, you can barely see the tracks!
they sealed em because kids were climbing into them and tbh they're unsafe.

Kids are unsafe, I always found that part of the charm of being a kid..

Thanks for the links . I'll be having a serious read later on.

mmmm Brings back memories LOL between 92 and 94 I worked in Birchwood and used to walk through there every morning from the Train station to work , looking at the lumps and bumps prompted some research and was amazed to find out the amount of ordnance they produced and the scale of the site and also that one of the UK's earliest Nuclear reactors was built by the Navy at Risley , just a stones throw away !

wouldnt want to be a council ranger in those areas though as I reckon some nice blinds are lurking in some of that woodland

Nice pics mate, I'm doing the city thing all week and now I'm missing the green stuff. It's dark when I go out and it's dark when I come home :(
