Had to usher this lovely specimen into the undergrowth on Saturday to avoid getting squished.
Not before I took a photo though. There's a compost heap nearby so that could well be its home.

Slowworms aren't snakes.;) There's quite a few round here and they often seem to bask on paths and sadly get trodden on or picked up by birds so I also tend to move them on. Lovely animals.

Second pics a beauty. I found a slow worm on a stroll the other day, had to move it on away from the road. First time Ive ever seen a live one in my life so was very pleased with the experience, think they must be quite shy.
