more of an ND problem in my eyes....it was towards the house from 30m away albeit at the base of a wall but still....they wouldn't appreciate it if I did the same up at their house.

That's a very different issue. A couple of shots in a safe direction but a bit close to your house whilst on his own land is, at worst, a minor noise nuisance. Shot hitting your dwelling is entirely different and inherently unsafe. Thankfully its also very provable - it must have left quite a mess. Certainly worth photographing and showing to the father and the authorities if it happens again.
