The Rainy Side of the Lakes.
I had a few hours free yesterday, so I got out of the house sharpish before I was found a job to do. Luckily, my canoe is parked up about fifteen minutes away on the shores of Derwentwater, so after picking a few bits up from the shed I was off.

The northwesterly wind meant that I was able to get most of the way to St Herbert's Island under sail.

When I arrived, I quickly had the stove going, despite forgetting to bring my favourite fire lighting tools ( firelighters ).

While the kettle was boiling, I had a bite to eat and a a look at the sign erected by the National Socialists ( sorry, I mean Trust ), instructing us not to camp or light fires.

After my lunch, I packed up and gathered someone elses litter up before paddling around the island ( the view south )

and heading north back to the marina into the wind that I'd harnessed to get myself there.

Is it just me,or does that look like a hand coming out of the bag and grabbing a log in the second picture?
