I need to upgrade my underpants! :D

At the moment I have some Premark cotton boxer shorts which do the job alright but want to get something better. I already own several other Keela products which I'm very happy with so my initial thought was to get some merino wool boxers from them. Unfortunately they’ve been discontinued now so I need to look elsewhere. I’m open to any suggestions you guys may have so it doesn’t have to be merino wool if you think something else works well.

So what boxer shorts do you guys wear when you’re out camping/bushcrafting for a few days? Or for the military guys amongst you what did you wear when out in the field?

Thanks in advance for your advice. :)

I have been wearing these for a good while, comfortable and last well. I have worn them from the tropics, rain forests, deserts and temperate climate too. non chaffing for multi-day treks. wash well, maybe a bit slow to dry but not enough to be a problem.

EDZ merino wool Boxer shorts look like good value at £65 for a pack of three. British company too. I might get a pair of their fingerless merino wool gloves for £14 while I'm at it.

The online reviews sound good. Has anyone here ever used any EDZ gear?

Cotton for day to day urban use.
Merino if out for more than a day.

Increasingly hard to find a good fit so watching this thread.

I have EDZ - size L waistband fits my 34", but body too tight.
Size XL body fits nice, but waistband too large..!

EDZ are well made. The fit is snug & supportive.
Mine have been going through the washing machine & have held up well.
Too snug for me though.

I have used merino boxers from Janus and Devold from The Norwegian Store in Keswick. Their website shows limited stock but always worth calling.

For synthetic I use Cool Silver by Rohan, now discontinued. Might try their Aether line if I ever wear out what I have, although that is unlikely.

Have used bamboo (viscose) by BAM for every day. Drying time is slower than even cotton, and I have seen it cause problems for a chap on a canoe expedition, so would consider only for hot dry trips, like Namibia.

Viscose fibers are round while cotton cross section varies which means that cotton generally dries faster as it has greater surface/mass ratio. Also sometimes viscose has larger diametre which leads to same. Fine viscose fibers handle better and also feel softer though they are not as good against abrasion as larger ones.

Worth checking the source of the merino and its declaration about mulesing (worth looking up but it is very grim).
Dilling merino boxers in a variety of formats have been serving me well for a while, mulesing free (and organic) merino wool.
