I felt like doing a quick 30 minute project. So I attempted a wood spirit with limited tools. Just my every day knife a small carving knife I forged awhile back and a 3mm v chisel.

The wood is nearly dry hazel it was a tough wood to carve compared to when its green quite prone to chipping

For dry wood, you did really well. From cheese to bone, huh?
Don't pry anything. Make stop cuts and slice towards them.
Try dry western red cedar for insane chipping and splits.
