Free to good home, available from Tuesday: Silver Nissan X-Trail 2.2dci 136PS Diesel, 128,000 mile approx MOT until 9th March, Reg NJ56 UES.
The good: All the electrics work, power windows, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, central locking, four wheel drive, air-con, locking wheel nut key, full size alloy spare wheel, has roof bars and cross bars, it has the fascia trim to fit a double din headunit, and the original with the sat nav and single din (both hopelessly outdated). Very easy car to work on with easy access in the engine bay. my problem has been lack of funds, facilities and time.
The bad: Bad wheel bearing on rear left wheel, I have the part but the bolts holding the knuckle to the control arms are seized and may have to be cut off, I have the bolts on order, but only one has arrived, and I have replacement control arms as well, all parts included with the car, along with various other spares. this is noticible when driving with noise and vibration.
Rear drivers side wheel arch has a big hole in it that will need to be welded, and both rear sills are crusty and the drivers side has collapsed when the car was jacked up, all fixable with time and some welding skills.
The turbo is dying, has a slight whine, the core can be easily replaced or the whole thing can be found for under a £160.
Intercooler weeps oil, common problem with this car as the early coolers were crimped, uprated welded ones can be had for £130ish, again, easy to replace.
The hand brake cables have stretched, which means it needs to be left in gear when parked.
Lots of rust blooms on the bodywork, scuffs and scratches to the interior trim.
Needs a service, oil change, filters, transmission fluid change etc.
When the bearing was good this was a very capable and fun to drive vehicle, great ground clearance. It would be shame to scrap it, as I think the engine has lots of life in it, and I need to shift it fast, and would rather not have the hassle of selling it, so here it is free to whomever can collect it from the Bristol area by the 28th of February, it is drivable and taxed, but it would be best if it were trailered due to the bearing, as it can be a bit erratic to drive. I would love it if someone were to make this a 4x4 rebuild project, there is a lot of information on these cars on the web, and I can provide in PDF the full workshop manual.
