1st Miskin Mill Scout Camp this weekend!

It's raining, big time!

Rumours are that the camp area currently requires masks and snorkels for anyone trying to pitch a tent. Ahh...British Summers.

The weather won't be allowed to get in the way, but I have suggested that we build an ark as part of the pioneering activities.

My first camp as a volunteer with the Scout movement, so I'm really looking forward to it. Prey for sun!

Which is fine for the individual, but not much cop when you're trying to establish serviceable accommodation for half-a-dozen patrols.

No... I was expecting wet sleeping bags (not from rain), stroppy kids and irate parents. Fortunately I got none of those!

It went really well in the end - the weather cleared by Saturday late morning, and it was all systems go then - we managed to do some shelter building, fire lighting and map and compass work, and the kids lapped it up. All in all, I reckon it was a success. It's seriously tiring though; kids have way more energy than I do!
