Hi,
I need to buy a new sleeping bag. I have looked up previous posts but I have some concerns.
I was considering a 3 season down bag and a liner that I could possibly use year round in Ireland but considering the dampness of our climate should I go for a synthetic bag?
I have had a...
Hi
I cannot choose from john seymours new complete guide and his concise guide. Can anyone offer more information or advice on which might be the better of the two?

I have been having a few problems with my willow bark cordage and couldnt see much to help when I searched the forum. I was hoping someone could offer some advice. Here's what I've done.
1. Soak the bark over night which left the water a reddish brown colour
2. Cut thin strips from the...

Hi,
I want to rehandle a mora and I have read up on the previous threads but there is one thing I dont understand.
It is probably a silly question but how exactly do the mosaic pins or simple nail as someone used hold the handle together? Or how do the loveless bolts work? Also can someone...
Can anyone explain to me in detail the method of making bramble cordage? what time of year is best etc? I did a search but the links supplied dont seem to work anymore.
Now that its that time of year for the cracked and chapped lips, does anyone know of or heard if there are any alternatives for vaseline to get when your out and about? I have heard honey mentioned somewhere else but I havent tried it! Not that often I happen on honey bees either...I was...
Does anyone have any experiance working the bow drill with natural cordage? which is the best for the job? only asking because if you found yourself alone with only your knife (or not) would you be better off going for the hand drill method?
Interesting story on the news last nite about one Harry Hallowers. Discribed as a nature-loving vagabond. Maybe we could learn from this and set up camp in some wood and after 12 years or so we would own our very own bushcraft haven ;)

Hey bushcrafters
My dad dropped a block on his shin nearly two years ago now at this stage and ever since it hasn't healed. It gets infected now and again and re-opens etc. He has been to the doctor numberous times to get antibiotics to clear the infection and get it cleaned but there doesnt...
Ckecked this morning on the web site and there is a place available for the 16th to 22nd, go myself book I'm book in for 08. Move quick though likely to be taken soon. :)
I was just wondering what would be the best natural cordage to use as fishing line?or are they pretty much all ok to use once they are laid thin?would some types decay or disintigrate due to the water or could it be coated with some kind of oil to protect it.
Cheers!
Hi all
Just two quick questions.....i've read that it's best to harvest burdock & thistle after its first years growth so how do you identify this stage?
Also are there many other plants that are best harvested like this?
Cheers
Hey
I would like to know if anyone here could recommend a site or sites in Ireland where I could practice my bushcraft skills. I'd like somewhere close to Wexford but please mention anywhere you can think.
Cheers
