    Any recommended winter bushcraft courses?

Hi all, I'm looking for any experience you may have with winter courses, preferably overseas e.g. Canada, Sweden, Finland etc for subarctic bushcraft. I'm hoping to do Wild Human's course in February, but it's dependent on numbers. So just in case it isn't a goer, I wanted to see if there...

    New video from Tom McElroy

I alway enjoy his videos, they're straight to business, well delivered and genuinely insightful. This time he's in the rainy PNW making a bow drill with natural cordage, making torches out of pine cones and cooking cockles and crabs. It's a nice easy watch

    New Ray Mears series!

I've been having a yen for Ray's programming recently, but it seems to be frustratingly absent from any of the mainstream platforms. I have found some alternatives here, hope they're ok and/or helpful: https://archive.org/details/ray-mears-complete...

    What did you buy today?

Wanted something bomb proof to sleep on and/or to protect the air mat from errant pine needles etc. NATO Multimat ordered from Healy's. Cheapest place I could find for an authentic one at £18.95 with free (albeit slow) delivery.

What wildlife did you spot today?

I was enjoying some funemployment, reading in my local park (N. London) and heard a bird call I didn't recognise. The Merlin app identified it as a Peregrine Falcon and to my amazement, there it was, perched on top of the clock tower in the park. I scurried home to get the binoculars and took...

    Bivvy advice wanted

I didn't have mine closed as it was too warm to be completely sealed inside the bivvy. I'm sure it would keep you bite-free if you were totally enclosed and using the bug net.

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

Glad someone grabbed it, had no idea this would lead to such a nailbiter. My alert is probably still active, so I'll post if I hear of another one.

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

Just got a notification that Abe books have a copy of Andrew Lane's Survival Advantage for about £6.50 delivered. Alas I bought mine full price a month ago, so this is a bargain someone else can have...

    What did you buy today?

Smashed the piggy bank and took myself along to the Wilderness Gathering. Came away with a Silky Gomboy Outback, Zebra steel plate and a Rob Evans Bushtool S. Very happy. And broke.

    Bivvy advice wanted

To give you my experiences: I've just been using the Dutch hooped bivvy for a week doing the Frontier Intermediate course. The bivvy certainly adds some warmth to your overall set up, but it isn't the difference between cold-just right-sweltering. That's going to be down to the rest of your...

    What did you buy today?

Boning up for a bushcraft course in a couple of weeks. Just finished Ray's Outdoor Survival Handbook so picked up a copy of Survival Advantage. Impressed with the readability and thoroughness so far.
