My Peregrine got in the NEWA :)

That's one very nice piece of work, you almost expect the peregrine to move its wings at any moment. Congratulations too for winning a place in the exhibition, hope this is the first of many :). Best regards Bobbin

    Who's going to the Moot?

I'll be there too, my second Moot. :) Had a really good time last year. :D Memory like a sieve when it comes to learning new stuff :o but the Moot's ideal for that as people are happy to share their bushcraft knowledge and even to repeat themselves in the hope that I'll remember something...

    white bluebells

Went down to Petworth Park in Sussex today and their bluebell display was fantastic, as far as I could see it was mostly the native, scented variety :) Even better though was when I got back home....whilst out in the back garden I discovered that the bluebells in one corner are actually English...

    white bluebells

Coincidentally, on Friday (2nd) BBC News ran a short report item on the Spanish bluebell problem, see following link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7381245.stm Bobbin

Thanks Toddy, that would be great. As for breeding true...well there's a nice little horticultural teaser to keep me occupied over the winter months ;) Bobbin

    white bluebells

Andyn Now that's just the view I had in mind. How nice...and blue :D Toddy Lucky you! If you do find that you end up with any spare seeds I'd be very interested in partaking of a few please to help reintroduce the native species back into a small garden in SE England. :) Many thanks Bobbin

    white bluebells

Apparently....the true 'British' bluebell is the fragrant one with a one-sided flower stem that droops over at the tip. Alas, like the red squirrel, it too is becoming less common thanks to the Spanish bluebell with which it readily cross-breeds. The main difference is that the Spanish variety...

I just won a scholarship to study countryside management!

Well done, all credit to you for having the courage to pursue something worthwhile....not always an easy choice to make these days. Enjoy and good luck with putting those new skills into action. :D Bobbin

    sandsnakes' poultice notes

Too Much Kit To Carry is right, send Sandsnakes a PM with your e-mail address and he will send you the notes - they are extremely detailed and well worth having. If you mention about the scarring I'm sure Dr Roderick will be happy to give you some good advice about treatments that will help...

    Who's your favourite band?

Nice to see a fellow HW fan...:D (NMA's sometime guest member Ed Alleyne-Johnson did a couple of cool solo albums too...) In addition to many of the rock names already mentioned, Jeff Beck features quite extensively in my CD collection :p Bobbin

    badge balm

I've found the sleep balm quite good, rub a small amount on back of neck or temples. The others can be a bit greasy but for products that have mostly natural ingredients in them that's a minor letdown.

    Curious Robin (large picture)

Great pix both :D Being a bit of a Robin fan myself - not that you'd guess of course :) - I've done a bit of reading about them (David Lack - The Life of The Robin) and apparently it's only the British Robin that gets so friendly/close to humans. Those on the European mainland tend to hide...

Too early to have flown the nest

Some blue-tits have taken up residence in a bird box on my garage wall, adults have been coming & going for about two weeks now but no sight (or sound) of any youngsters yet.... I think they're just a bit slow off the mark round here this year  Meanwhile, I've just enjoyed ten...
