    Woodstoves

I have a Morso squirrel that I adore. Very easy to get spare parts, draws well and seemingly bullet proof. I use this as my sole heat source and have to admit probably abuse it. Not the most modern looking, but the cast iron outer radiates heat so well. Best purchase I’ve ever made for my home.

    Exploding Gas Cartridges

Funny that you mention this. I’d never known it before, unless left in the sun. But it happened to my brother last week. He took his family camping for the first time. New stove and canister brought from Amazon. They woke up to find it had exploded overnight. It had been used once to boil a...

Swopping over to natural wool bedding.

My Mum is always cold and uses an electric blanket in bed. Last Christmas I brought my parents a duvet from Woolroom. They adore it! And no more electric blanket. Haven’t tried it myself, but will be swapping my synthetic one, as they have given rave reviews. Apparently it simultaneously keeps...

Bell tent. Stove flap or flashing kit?

Thanks for the response and glad to hear you made a profit. So, you’re using a stove with standard canvas and alls been ok so far? I really don’t want to have to send mine off to have the fireproof flap sewn in due to cost and faff. I’m hoping the silicone jack and double wall section will be...

Bell tent. Stove flap or flashing kit?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but @Woody girl what did you decide in the end? I have a canvas Bell tent (untreated), one of those bolt on silicone stove jack things and a double walled section of flue and I’m wondering if that will be sufficient. I’m trying to avoid having to send the...

    Outhaus Palmerston 110

I brought one recently second hand after seeing them at a show. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but I was really shocked at the size and weight of it packed up. It’s as big as my 5m bell tent.

    What are you growing?

Wrong time of year really, but comfrey leaves make great feed. It’s high in potassium, so good for things like tomatoes.

Human Nature - The problem with people.

Alpha is a strange thing. Take my parents for example. People that meet them and presume that as my Mum is the alpha as she is loud, outspoken and sociable. And that my quiet, introverted Dad just takes a back seat and is bossed around. It couldn’t be further from the truth. No one can get my...
