BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I've managed to acquire a couple of Rob Evans' knives: a Bushtool and a MK2. I like both but prefer the newer one - it's replaced the older as my favourite. Both are used regularly with my Scout troop and I really enjoy owning them. As noted above by Woodcutter, it's possible to complete...
I like to be under a wee basha - even a DD Magic (Flying?) Carpet type rather than nothing - inside a bivi bag. I also like a small ground sheet under me + a 3/4 length mat (sawn-off issue type). Hiking poles = o/n basha poles with a couple of titanium pegs and some paracord. Basha and sheet...
This thread is worrying! A couple of years ago I visited a museum that had a display of “old children’s toys” that featured three toys I owned. Now my Scout knife is getting the “oldie but goodie” treatment. I still have it, together with its original sheath. I haven’t used it for a while...
What a blast from the past and in such great condition. This is a classic pack. I had one many moons ago. If you’re looking for something that is solid and durable, this is the one for you.
(No association with seller or Karrimor)
Thanks for all the input. In case anyone was wondering, I went for the Desert Night pattern. Happy with that choice and think I was right not to go for the Brown. (I once tried on a dark Swanni in a store in New Zealand: I could see a smirk on the assistant’s face and SWMBO made overt...
Can I add to this thread, please? I’m trying to find out more about the Bushmen Thermo Tarp (NOT bivvy bag). Since cresting 50 years young a while back I have felt the cold more, especially when in a bivvy. Recent Scout events here in NE Scotland have underlined my enthusiasm for a warm down...
thank you for that input. I've been looking at the Desert Night Camo as it's sort of "camo lite" - not Action Man, not plain. If you able to post a few pictures, I'd be grateful.
Helikon have a sale at present!
Thanks for input.
Anyone seen the dark (“chocolate”) brown version? I have their smock in that colour and find it very forgiving on long Scout camps + it blends in with trunks.
My fashion sense (yeah, right) worries about overdoing one colour…
To the hive mind,
I’m thinking of asking nearest and dearest to buy me a Helikon-tex Swagman Roll for Christmas. I’d value input on the following:
1/ is it a useful garment for sitting still at camp and/or observing nature?
2/ what colour do you favour - not DPM or MTP or Woodland as I’ve worn...
Is the Pilgrim still available? If it is, please post pit to pit measurement (in inches if possible) when laid on a flat surface - sorry, but mixed information about sizing online and no reply from stockists.
