They recommend about 9gn per lb for a wooden bow to be safe, so a 40lb bow would be approx 360gn or 23.32 grams if your using the kitchen scales lol I use a lot lighter arrows for distance shoots like a clout, but it's hard on the bows almost like dry loosing.

    Show us your bows

I shoot mainly target longbow, GNAS and BLBS. First up is an Adrian Hayes tri laminate 42lb@31 bamboo, pau amarello, and ipe belly. It's a nice bow and shoots pretty well out to 60yds. Second bow is made by arguably the best bowyer in the country, Chris Boyton. If your into shooting...

Stave makin :) and a bit of tillering.

unfortunately to be competitive at longbow shooting you need to be using a performance bow of sorts, and laminated bows are nothing new having been around for hundreds of years, so i guess your more of a primitive bow man?

Stave makin :) and a bit of tillering.

I'm interested to know how well these home made bows perform, have any of you's budding bowyers produced a performance target english longbow?

    english longbow

I have a 5 laminate english longbow with a crack low down in the belly. It might be of interest to someone who wants to strip off the cracked belly and make a new one to make it good, as the other laminates look to be good. Being a 5 laminate, the belly is quite shallow so it should be an easy...

    english longbow

I have a 5 laminate english longbow with a crack low down in the belly. I have still been shooting it but it could go at any time, but it might be of interest to someone who wants to strip back the belly and make it good. Being a 5 laminate the belly is quite shallow so it should be an easy...

    little baby knife

I got one of these the other week and haven't stopped using it around the farm. I had been looking a real small fixed blade as i have lost my faith in folders, which always seem to fall apart on me, though i am a little hard on them to be fair. It's a little cracker, with a blade just long...

    pop up type tent.

Hi, i don't really have a budget, but i think if it was the right tent i would spend the money?? I don't want a big tent, just something quick and easy to work with that's not a ton weight to carry?

    pop up type tent.

I'm looking for a pop up type tent of decent quality, purpose, price etc but there seems to be a wash of cr4p ones out there, can anyone recommend one they use. It needs to fit a fat bloke and his two young kids:)

what backpacks and day sacks do you use?

I'm on my second one of these 30l mil-tec backpacks (dog chewed the old one) Loads of pockets, bladder pouch, big enough to hide an 18'' machete and there's straps on the side to tighten the load up. There's also molle straps which i'm a big fan of as i can pick and choose what i need to carry...

    Cheapest 4x4 on a budget?

You can still pick up a trusty old series 3 land rover for a grand. I sold this one a few weeks ago, that i had bought it as a run around for the summer, rough bodywork but the 2.25 diesel engine and gearbox was perfect.
