Hammock Hang in the Swiss Alps

aahh, I see! that was my own design, actually, that happened to coincide with the Exped Ergo.... that project was left on the side somewhat, but is not forgotten. I used it twice and the concept works really well, however: if I am in the mountains I do not trust my sewing....

TONY MODS AND ANY ONE ELSE WHO use the internet

there's an excellent password safe here: www.securesafe.com (can be used with PC and mobiles) since i use this site, non of my passwords are identical and it does work. the company is providing security services to swiss banks so it seems they're secure and private. p@

    -18°C Winter Bushcraft with hammocks

:) I might start a discussion on how to cook fried bacon and eggs. eggs on top of bacon? or fry bacon first to grease the pan and then egg with bacon on the on top? burst the yolks or not? toast or not? :)

    Torches made from Pine Resin

i collect my resin with a sharpened wooden poking stick that i can burn afterwards. also, i mostly used the rather dry, kind of cristalline resin that i drop into wee metal box that i use to collect the stuff. so my knife is totally clean. some of the stuff always manages to find my fingers...

    Torches made from Pine Resin

Pine Resin is amazing stuff and one of the many uses is to make torches with it. Tried out two different variations. Both are made in the bush using only a knife. The first one burnt for about 30mins (? not sure). The second one can be re-fed with resin-cristals, so it can burn much longer...

DIY knife sharpener for the bush / for scandies

I find going down to grits as low as 2500 in my case (others go as fine as 4000) I get very nice results. I should make an video on the actual process and all papers involved (including the stropping)

DIY knife sharpener for the bush / for scandies

same here, finest grit is 2000 -2500 (depends what I can find). it is paper that mold-makers use to polish surfaces and it works very fine. i might make a video on the perfect mirror like surface you can get and hence very nice edges. with regard to pushing or draging: i prefer pushing because...

DIY knife sharpener for the bush / for scandies

Haven't been posting for a while, much going on. I made this device to sharpen my knifes in the field/the bush. For scandi knifes, this setup is the only one I use (in the bush as well as at home). It can either be used to just quickly touch up your edge when out practising bushcraft or it...

Knots for setting up a camp

I have uploaded another vid which shows alternative ways to make "Trucker's Hitch"-like Knots. The problem with the Trucker's Hitch is that it is made with quick release knots, and that can be a problem when larger diameter ropes or very high tension is involved...
