What do you do when it’s dark? (No not that)

The night is your friend. Watching wildlife. A bit of astronomy and photography. Relaxing watching the fire and putting the world to rights with friends makes the evenings a joy. Also the odd early night helps.

What would you have done? - camping

If I let rain stop me I’d be bankrupt. Nothing like lying in a shelter listening to the rain. I dry my wet parachutes at the local laundrette. Their industrial tumble dryer only takes 5-10 minutes to dry it enough to store loose without smelling of mushrooms. The other customers weren’t happy...

    Proposed group meet, devon/Cornwall

North of Plymouth is a lovely area although it’s often wet. Seems to have its own weather systems. Always good to seem more meets advertised. Whilst no somewhere I’d get to regularly it might be nice to hangout occasionally.

What do you want to have on Bushcraft UK?

For most people the name Trangia is just generic like Hoover or a Bic pen. It’s that sort of pedantry that puts me off posting a lot of my exploits. Plus I'm generally in the woods or outdoors doing stuff rather than sitting in front of a PC. I own a rather nice laptop but have almost no...

    Bush clamps

Sean Hellman has an excellent book on shave horses and clamps. My favourite fir bow making is a knee brake.

How do you feel about people joining to post Surveys?

My view is that membership to BCUK comes with tights and obligation. The same as any other organisation. Respect is earned and good will takes time to build. So if a long standing member requires information that might prove beneficial to them I’m happy to donate some time to the cause...

I have given up on sanity

Why not just accept its an hour fast and adjust the time with a simple bit mental arithmetic. Alternatively at least you wont be late. It’s about time they stopped playing with daylight saving time and just stuck with GMT.

    Afghan pressure cooker lead poisoning

I think on the rare occasions I use my Afghan pot. The issue is lead contamination would be minimal. Everyday use several times daily might be more worrying.

    Wanted Alan Blade Packpal.

Hi. Very long shot but does anyone have one they are willing to part with. I have lost mine. I remember putting in a bag as I left the Bushmoot to stay legal. Now can’t find it anywhere. It was my favourite small knife for everyday chores. So if anyone has one I would be very grateful

    Not going to make it
