What I've learned about the Brits from BBC

That's funny about the Lipton brand. My mom's brother Tom Dixon was over here twice. The second time he brought his own tea and his girlfriend. She brought a big bag of candy she called "sweets." Tom referred to the Lipton tea my mother served as "rubbish." Tom had a way with words...

What I've learned about the Brits from BBC

Are bacon sarneys the same as a bacon sandwich? In another favorite BBC program of mine "Keeping up Appearances", Onslow often asks Daisy to get him a bacon sarney. Sadly, I just read that Geoffrey Hughes is dead. Also, is brown sauce similar to steak sauces or is this something I need to find?

What I've learned about the Brits from BBC

Hello over there. I find myself watching several British television shows that air on our PBS stations (Public Broadcasting Station). Last night was "Call the Mid Wife." Another favorite is "Midsomer Murders." Here's what I have learned. Brit #1 -- Call the Mid Wife, my water just broke and I'm...

    Cast Iron..

Avoid pans that glow green in the dark. I have several Lodge skillets and a pot. The lids with the nipples on the underside help keep fried chicken moist by dripping. As for seasoning a new skillet, I've found that frying a pound of bacon, eating it and repeating as needed works for me.

Has anyone knowledge of Dan Tierney?

Still haven't heard from him. I'm afraid he's eaten a bad sausage on one of his adventures or got drunk and fell over a cliff.

Has anyone knowledge of Dan Tierney?

I haven't heard from Dan in a long time and am getting concerned about his health. I emailed him a number of times and wrote a short letter about four weeks ago. Nothing! If you know Dan, please ask him to let me know if he is sick or dead. John Lee, an American from a Yorkshire mother

Anyone seen DanTierney and Crusher the Bear?

Bilmo, I've sent three or four but haven't gotten a response. Has happened before when he had computer problems. I hope he is healthy and about. John

    It's what the Vikings did

First, I'd like to say that the folks on BCUK are more informed than many on other forums. It's always fun as well as educational to read the BCUK forum. I always thought the Vikings were spreading their genetic seeds wherever they invaded. As my Uncle Joe said, "those boys weren't just sitting...

Anyone seen DanTierney and Crusher the Bear?

I've been a fan of Dan Tierney's blog "Teddy Tour Teas" and was fortunate to have received email from him a number of times. But I haven't heard from him in a long time. I hope he's not sick or worse. John from across the pond

    Knife lore

Several years ago a retired policeman friend asked me if I had a penny. I pulled one out of my pocket and he handed me a Gerber folder and recited a short phrase about giving a coin for a knife. He did this again a few months later. He was Cherokee Indian and always gave me things, mostly gun...

    Anyone know Yorkshire Dan Tierney?

I've been exchanging emails with Danny for several years since he responded to my posting that my mother was from Yorkshire. However, I haven't heard from him in months. I pray he's alright and just out and about with Crusher.

Thank you to the person who found Danny

I opened my email this morning and found Danny from Yorkshire had been contacted by someone on this forum after I had requested help getting information on his status. I was beginning to fear the worst for Danny. Although he appears to have had a bad week or two, he is still among us. Thank you...

    Still no word from Danny

I still haven't heard from Danny Tierney since his last email telling me that he had just gotten out of hospital. I believe he lived in Barnoldswick. I tried to access a local newspaper to see if he was still alive but had no luck. Please help locate this great man.

    Where's DanQT?

I had been corresponding with Danny in Yorkshire for a couple of years but his last email said he had just gotten out of hospital and I haven't heard from him since. I pray that he's alright but I fear something is wrong. Does anyone here know him and how is he? Thanks. John Lee

    Chickens

This is best tried after she has a couple of pints. Oh, chickens? Sorry I was confused. I have three hens and a rooster. The rooster is great. He herds the hens around when they are out of their enclosure and calls them when he finds a large worm or other bug. My first rooster got eaten when I...

A South African Braai for dinner.

One of the funniest videos I've seen. Is a Braai the same as a charcoal grill in the U.S.?

    Les Stroud's Temagami

I'm with Danny on this. He is the Man. While he's out and about, others including myself are buying gear thinking that with the right knife, tent, sleeping bag, etc. we'll be real outdoorsmen. I admire Danny and am trying to emulate his lifestyle.
