    Blanket or Sleeping bag?

A £2 space blanket is good to loosely wrap around you should you wake up in the night. Works great over my summer bag if it's a clear night. Get a nice big one and it can be tucked in under the feet end to stop it slipping.

    Matting to sit woodburner on

Fibreglass might do it. Layers of matting sandwiched together. Could even be rolled for transport. Cheap to replace too. Again, just thinking aloud.

Just thought you were being careful. 8]

    Matting to sit woodburner on

"...embers falling out the door..." should have given me a clue that it wasn't yer common garden hobo stove. Sorry. 8/

    Matting to sit woodburner on

If it's just to keep the tent warm, then maybe some kind of hanging device would do the job. It could even have it's own tray fixed underneath - pie dish for instance. Just thinking aloud here.

Bush buddy, Titanium pots and canvas rucksacks. A long post!

Personally I'd make most of my own gear. The advantage being it's easily repaired or replaced along the road using readily available materials. Doing this would also be a good investment in the knowledge stakes. There are many plans available for rucksacks, etc - for free. Sleeping bag, quilts...

Any tips on getting weight down in your pack?

bmartin1uk. The stuff you mentioned doesn't sound that heavy. A lighter bag is a good start though (maybe a waterproof Gourdon 30litre would be good for chucking around the woods - and I've seen an old GoLite Jam going for £30 recently) but I'm guessing it's the smaller stuff that's adding up...

    'Bush buddy' vent hole question.

Many thanks for the quick replies. As you might have guessed, I have been making them and wanted to make sure. I'm about halfway through the third one and will add some vents. Funny - they still worked without them, though they did need a fire-lighter to get them going - which is why I asked...

    'Bush buddy' vent hole question.

By what I can gather, it seems 'Bush Buddy' stoves don't have vents at the bottom of the inner can - only a grid around halfway down and vents around the top of the inner can. Can anyone who owns the genuine article confirm this? Thanks.

Are you embarrassed in what you do ?

Not much you can say really - and if anyone takes the p**s, just smile and say nothing.

    Where to sell...

Checking that out today, along with Preloved, etc. Thanks. For the record - I just sold a new Kelly Kettle on ebay for a very good price. But, as Matt.S has already said, ebay has to take a bite.

    Where to sell...

So, no shop and no personalized blog thing. Does that mean a membership discount? 8]

    Where to sell...

Thanks. I didn't consider the 'dodgy' angle, but the rest of what you've both said is pretty much what I was expecting. I suppose I should add up what I have got (it's a major clear-out, not all sharp and shooty) and try and estimate a total. I'll be back.

    Where to sell...

...sharp and shooty stuff? I'm not here often enough (or that involved) to pay the membership needed to use the classified section, so can't really say what I have cos it'd be taking the p**s. Ebay's no good so any ideas appreciated. Thanks. ps - I know it's a bit of a cheeky question not...

    Editing software ?

An older copy of Photoshop could probably be had for little more than a few pounds. Even if you just want it for the basics, the support base is vast - which makes it priceless in real terms.

    What camera??!?!

Looks like a compact then - none of which are likely to get broken under normal circumstances. Ignore the perceived ifs, buts and maybes that need money to avoid. You really won't need much. Simple is good and decent battery life. There are lots out there that won't cost the earth. 8]

    Bear Grylls- Urban Survivor

"bear is too energetic and has to be harnessed or he would be running wild through the streets". Sounds like ADHD. Maybe 'care in the community' should be helping here.

    My Cameras

Some threads do have a life of their own at times and yours seemed to have just hatched from an egg. Oh well. All's well that ends well, as Wallace (and Gromit) would say. Good luck with your new stuff.
